How to Fix a Freon Leak?

If your air conditioning unit has a freon leak, there are a few ways you can go about solving the issue. 

Replacing the Freon 

One solution is replacing your freon when it needs it. However, this is not the recommended route to go. 

• Freon can pose a threat if too much is inhaled. 
• Replacing the freon isn't a guarantee it will last through the rest of the season.
• Replacing your freon means your spending extra money each year.
• If your unit is older than 10 years, it might run on a refrigerant that is hard to come by and more expensive (R-22.)

Repair the Leak

We have a few ways to identify and repair the leak on your unit; however, we won't know the extent of the leak until we can take a look at it. 

Replace the Unit

Depending on the severity of the leak, the age of the unit, and your budget, we might need to recommend replacing the air conditioner. Though this does have a higher upfront cost than adding freon or repairing the unit, it can help you save money in the long run. 

With a new unit, you won't have to worry about leaks, and the newer systems are much more energy-efficient!
