Consult with an HVAC Professional before Opening a Business in a Rented Space

If you are a business owner and you are about to rent a new space for that business, it is important to consult with an HVAC professional before to make sure that the heating and cooling equipment can handle the type of business you're opening.

A Hair Salon

For instance, a man in the middle office of a strip building wanted to open up a hair salon. The space was a thousand square feet. But he called us because he could not cool the space. It was 85 degrees in there because that space was set up for routine office work, and he had seven hair dryers. Now four of those hair dryers put out enough heat to require another ton of air conditioning. Meaning he needed almost double the capacity that he had.

So this man did not know that when he took that space. Now his clients are unhappy, and he is unhappy because he is losing customers and he had just paid for a new counter, chairs, mirrors, and now he has to pay for more air. Whereas had he consulted with an HVAC professional about the space beforehand; he could have budgeted better or even chose a different space. 

A Tanning Salon

Another example is a tanning salon. This space was also a thousand square feet, and the air would have worked fine for a typical office. When you throw ten tanning beds in there that space needed about five additional tons of cooling.

 These are not very cheap fixes. When you get blindsided by that, and you don't consider it up front, you've signed the lease and bought expensive equipment, you could be stuck in a less than ideal situation.
