Most AC units are designed to run at total capacity all day long, according to the HVAC experts (us). This means you can keep your AC on all day without worrying about hurting your unit. Regardless of this answer, you still need to ensure that your heating and cooling bill will not break your wallet. 

Cycling Your Time To Save Money 

If you want to save some money, consider running your AC within a few minutes and then letting it shut off for a bit. It would help if you allowed your air conditioner to run for 15 minutes when it's nice and warm outside. Only on those rare days with the high 90s or triple-digit numbers temperatures should your air conditioner run almost continuously.
