Thermocouples
Thermocouples are electrical devices made up of two dissimilar conductors forming an electrical junction. They produce a voltage that is temperature-dependent due to the Seebeck effect, and this voltage can be translated into temperature.
Relics Of The Past
There are thermocouples around old equipment since they aren't used in newer equipment. Thermal pairs are typically associated with a standing pilot. Usually found in old appliances, furnaces, and hot water tanks. Older generations knew that if there was a pilot problem, the first thing to do was replace the thermal couple. The older generations reused thermocouples over and over again.
Our furnaces have advanced to include spark ignition, flame reduction, and hot water tanks. While they still have pilots, it is a power pile generated. It's similar to a thermal couple, but it's not the same.
We’ve come a long way since thermocouples were a popular thing. But still, you will find them in your homes or in your businesses.
