Where do Customers Need To Spend Their Money First - Infrastructure or Furnace?

If the customer has a limited budget, they need to consider these two questions: Do I replace that old furnace? Or do I attack the structure first? They might have a lot of windows or not so great insulation. This may be contradictory of what you would expect from a heating contractor, but your first step is to attack the structure.

Replace Your Infrastructure to Reduce Infiltration

Furnace | Forquer Heating and Air ConditioningSo if we were to take a look at a furnace like this (pictured right) - this is not what you want to replace first? This isn't where you want to spend your money if you have deficiencies in the structure. The biggest enemy is infiltration. If you can see light coming in around your doors or you can walk past doors and feel the draft you're losing a lot of heat, that’s the first signs you want to tighten up that structure. Not only for energy efficiency but comfort.

When it comes to sizing of your furnace, we may go with a smaller furnace once we've tightened Insulation in Attic | Forquer Heating and Air Conditioningup that structure then we would have with a loose structure. So for comfort and efficiency, tightening that structure up first then getting new window insulation to stop infiltration is the first step you should take.

You might contact a home comfort specialists or somebody like an insulation contractor who might be somebody that could really help you with this look and figure out where you have to put your emphasis on your structure, but you'll be much happier tightening up your home before you make that move on your new equipment. You'll get the right sized equipment the house will be more comfortable. It's just the better way to go all the way around.
